What You Should Know About Picking a Toothbrush for Your Child

Posted .

Do you know what you would do while you’re standing in the store choosing a toothbrush for your child? Did you know that your little one’s toothbrush can actually have a major impact on their oral health? How do you choose the right brush for your child?

One important thing you should look for is a brush with soft bristles. If you use a brush with hard bristles, you might accidentally hurt your little one’s teeth. In addition, you should avoid brushing your teeth until about half an hour after you eat. You should also help your child avoid brushing too hard, even if they’re using a brush with soft bristles.

You should also choose a brush that fits well inside your little one’s mouth. We recommend using a rounded head, instead of a rectangular one, since they usually fit better in your child’s mouth. If brushing is uncomfortable, your child will be more likely to not want to brush. A rounded brush will also help your child reach the back of their teeth.

Finally, please remember that you should replace your child’s toothbrush every few months. If a brush is frayed or used for too long, it could harbor harmful bacteria. You can also help your child want to brush their teeth by choosing a design they enjoy.
